COUNIY COUNCIL ELECTION.
The following nominations were received to-day : Ashburton. Thomas Taylor Joseph Megson I. R. 0. 0. Graham On the nominations being announced Mr I. R. 0. C. Graham formally retired from the contest, and the Returning Officer, Mr Charles draddell, declared Messrs Taylor and Megson duly elected as Councillors for the ensuing three years. Mount Hutt. Julian Jackson Mr Jackson being the only candidate nominated, the Jiseputy Returning officer (Mr Martin) declared him duly elected. Upper Ashburton. Hugo Friedlander Donald McLean. There being more than one candidate for this riding, the Deputy Returning Officer (Mr Davidson) announced that a poll would bo taken on Monday, the 17th inst. Rakaia. E. 13. Coster There was no excitement over the nomination. Mr Coster was the only candidate nominated, it being the general wish of the district that this member be returned. The other nominations were not to hand at the time of onr going to press.
