METEOROLOGICAL READINGS.
The following are the meteorological readings at Alford Station for the week ending Friday, November 7th, 1884;

fflY TELEOttAPH.] Dunedin, To-day. The National Insurance Company’s report shows the receipts for the year, including L 9.481 from the previous balance, were L 234.959 and the expenditure L217,61*. Of the balance there is declared an interim dividend at the rate of 20 per cent., absorbing L 5,000, to the payment of- the guaranteed interest on new capital L 3,325, to the payment of further dividend of 5 per cent for the half year on L 98,000 of capital, jL4,902 ; and to carry forward L4/211. Provision is made fur L 21,455 unadjusted losses and ascertained liabilities at the closing of the books The amount required to re-insure current risks is L 74,166, Jess that already appropriated, L 53,715. The balance L 20,451 is transferred from the reserve fund.
