Sydney, July 16. Fine weather has succeeded the rain. If it continues there are hopes of getting the Susan Gilmore off at Newcastle. The stud sheep sale is being continued, but the prices obtained have been very low. Hon W. llobinson, of New Zealand, has bought the highest prize, Silverdrop, for 35gs. The labor vessel Forest King has been seized for a breach of the regulations in having no interpreter on board. There were thirty-three recruits on board. Thirteen others jumped overboard and swam ashore. The Duke of Manchester is visiting some of the mining districts. Little apparent interest is being taken in Hanlan’s match with Bjach to come off next muiiik. Th« chamoion has not yet gone into strict training. Melbourne, July 16. Mr Delves Broughton, Deputy-maatef of the Mint, has been taken to Cremorne Lunatic Asylum, suffering from temporary insanity. Sir W. Jervois is visiting tho defence works at Queenscliffe and in the bay. The Bill for the amalgamation of the branches of the legal profession has passed the Assembly. Hobart, July 16. The Treasurer’s budget showed that the colony was in afairly prosperous condition. The revenue was good in spite of the remission of taxation last year ; next year would commence with a surplus of L 11,355.
