[PEB FREBS ASSOCIATION.] The Auckland Dredge. Auckland, To-day. The Harbor Board yesterday declined an offer of Messrs Simon, of London, to supply a dredge at a cost of L 20,000, and agreed to obtain one costing that amount, including outfit. A Fellmongery Burnt. Gisboknb, To-day. A fire broke eut at four this morning in Skillieomb'a fellmongery, at Ormond. 4,000 bales of sheepskins, 8 bales of : pressed and scoured wool, and the buildings were burnt down. No cause is assigned. The building was insured for LIOO in the National, and there was an open policy on the wool in the Union. Tire. Wellington, To-day. A fire occurred at Pirie Street at one this morning, which destroyed two cottages occupied by Messrs Hook and Dinues, respectively. The buildings were owned .by Hr Kershaw, of Eilburnie. The fire occurred in the kitchen of Hook’s , house, and when discovered it had a good hold. Hook loses the whole of his furni- * tnre, and Dinnes only saved a few articles. Hook’s furniture was insured for L 295 in the National. Dinnes was uninsured. The -cottages were insured for LIOO each in the Ocfionial Office. Found Dead. A man named John Webbey, a dairyman, aged 37, was found dead at the bottom of the cliff at Oriental Bay this morning. He leff his home in search of . cows at five this morning, and it is believed . that he bad an epileptic' fit and fell over the embankment. An inquest will be held. A Maori Church. Blenheim, To-day, The newly erected church St the Wairau pab was opened yesterday in tjie presence of a great crowd of Europeans of all denominations, Episcopalian, Wesleyan, And Presbyterian ministers being present, with ‘‘Major” Pollard and Bandmaster Tucker of ' the Salyation Army. The - public meetipg jn the church was presided oyer by Archdeacon Butt, who has completed forty years’ service' in Nelson and Marlborough. The new church cost L3SQ, and was all paid for by the Wairau Maoris oqt of moneys of the tribp, of * winch Bowe, the son'of one of the prin- ♦ cipal leaders in the Wairau massacre, is ' chief. The Unemployed. Chbisxohorch, To day. Twenty “ Unemployeds ” were discharged from the Addington workshops ■to day, because they refused to proceed to Ashley Bank to work at 4s 6d a day.
