FATAL FIRE.
♦ 3 HREE PERSONS BURNT. [BY TBLKCRAPH ] Christchurch, To-day. A terrible fire occurred at about four o’clock this morning at Leeston, destroying a two-roomed cottage on the olouthbridge road, owned by Mr Holley. The cottage was occupied by Frank Smith and his wife, and as neither of them was to be found the debris was examined by Constable Simpson, when the charred remains of Frank Smith and his wife were found. On a feither search being made a third body was found, but at present it is not known who it is. An inquest will be held this afternoon. Later. The third body found in the debris of Smith’s house at Leeaton has been identified as that of Win Thompson, who left tlia Lcestoa Hotel last night rather the worse for liquor. No clue has been obt lined as to the cause of the fire.
