THE AUSTRALIANS IN ENGLAND. [beuter’s telegrams—copyright ] [Received June 3, 1 30 p.m.j London, June 2. The Australians commenced a cricket match to-day against an eleven of Derbyshire at Derby. The weather was fine a- d the attendance good, but the wicket was rather bumpy. The visitors went in first and scored 273, the highest scorers being—Bannerman, c and b, 46 ; and 'Palmer, not out 57. Spofforth’s hand being now healed he was able to bat, and scored 19 (caught). At the close of the day’s play the Home team had a wicket down for 26 runs.
