[kEUXEE’S IBLEOKAMS—COPYEIGHT. [Received May 9, 2.25 p.m ] Liabilities of the Oriental Bank. Melbourne, To-day. It has transpired that the Oriental Bank is indebted to the Victorian Government for Li 95,000 on loan account, Lxßs.ooo on fixed deposit, Li 4,000 on current account, and L 30,000 in drafts. Mr Service, the Premier, haa written to the Associated Tanks, contending that they are all jointly liable for any deficiency in the public account that may arise by the failure of the Oriental Bank. No reply to Mr Service’s letter has yet been returned. Sydney, To-day. The New South Wales Government has decided to take steps to recover the amount due to the public account by the Oriental Bank. Shipping. Arrived, yesterday—Zealandia, from Auckland.
