NARROW ESCAPE OF THE MINISTER FOB LANDS.
[bt telegraph.] -" Christchurch, To-day. On Tuesday the Hon. W. Rolleaton had a narrow escape from drowning whilf crossing the river Waian in a buggy. The seats of the latter gaye way, Mr Rolieston, W. A. Lowe, and £ho driver being precipitated into the stream, ‘ Tlip latter scrambled back into the bt|£ the fcymer was washed going under the watet several times. After greet difficulty he managed to reacts the river bank. His escape was a very narrow one.
