A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY.
[BT TEIiKaRAPBL J Timaed, To-day. It is reported in town that Garland, the licensee of the Arowhenua hotel, shot himself and his wife this morning. He is dead and his wife is dying. lans. John Walter Garland, licensee of the Arowhenua Hotel, near Temuka, shot his wife in the bedroom at 6.30 this morning, and then shoHiimself. Garland died instantly, and when the matter was reported to the police Mrs Garland was dying. Jealousy is reported to -be the cause of the terrible act. Particulars are not yet to hand. The inquest will be held to morrow.
