Notice ia hereby given that it is the irtention of the Directors of the Rakaia and Ashburton Forks Railway Company (Limited) that a rate of One Shilling and Fivepence in the £ on all Land in Class 1 of the Rakaia and Ashburton Forks Railway District; One Shilling and Threepence and One-ninth of a Penny in the £on all Land in Class 2 of the said Railway District; Elevenpence and Onethird of a Penny in the £ on all Land in Class 3of the said Railway District; and Sevenpence and Five-ninths of a Penny in the £on all Land in Class 4 of the said Railway District, be made for the peri: d commencing on the Ist day of April, 1882, ana ending on the ,31st day of March, 1883, suon rate to be paid at the Office of the said Company, 178, Hereford street, Christchurch, or at the Offices of the Bank of New Zealand, Rakaia and Ashburton, by two equal instalments, on the Ist day of Feb nary, 1884, and on the Ist day of July, 1884 The Rate-book is open for inspection, without fee, by all Ratepayers at the Office of the Company, 198, Hereford street, Chrißtchurch, from 10 o'clock in the forenoon to 4 o'clock in the afternoon in every day except Saturday, and on Saturdays from 10 o'clock io the forenoon to J o'clock in the afternoon, until the 30th day of January, 1884. Any appeals against the Rate-book will be heard at a meeting of the Directors of the Company to be held on the 31st day of January, 1884, at the hour of half-past ten in the forenoon at the Office of the Canterbury Fire Insurance Association, in the Union Insurance Company's Building, 172, Hereford street, Chrißtchurch.
