fPKR PRESS ASSOCIATION. ) A Religions Society. Alcklanb, To-day. At a meeting last night, it was resolved to form a Christian Evidence Society, to circulate the beat literature and provide lecrures on the evidences of the Christian religion. A New Church. At a meeting of the Roman Catholics at Ponsonby, L 327 was subscribed towards the erection of a church in that suburb. Home Ships. Arrived—Ship Turakina (late City of Perth), Captain Power ; and the barque Lutterworth, Captain Pearson, from London. Trout Ova. Wellington, To-day. Mr Stoddart, of Hampden, an Otago settler, who has returned by the Aorangi, brought out with him 100,000 Loch Leven trout ova. The boxes have been opened . here, and it is found that a considerable proportion are dead, some apparently having not been impregnated. The ova in one box, however, is in a fairly good condition, and will be forwarded to Otago by the Te Anau on Monday.
The Fusilier. The agents of the Fusilier received the following telegram frem the captain this morning :—“ Every tide is driving the vessel further up the beach."

The Tablet states that Father Fynea has been elevated to the dignity of prelate and appointed Supernumerary Chamberlain to the Pope, in recognition of his administration of the Auckland diocese. Bankruptcy OasesMr West’s creditors have accepted his offer of ten shillings. Messrs McLean and Co have received their discharge.
