The Transvaal Frontier. London, Jan. 9.
Lord Derby has agreed to a modification of the Transvaal frontier re-adjust-ment boundary line being effected, in order to secure the rights of loyal chiefs, and to protect them from molestation by Boers, or by the natives who have not accepted British rule. The Stranded Steamer. Hopes are still entertained that the steamship Duke of Westminster will be floated, although her position is somewhat precarious.
Shipping. Arrived at Plymouth yesterday—The P. and O. steamship Ballarat from Melbourne (November 22nd).
The Egyptian Ministry. Cairo, Jan. 8
Nubar Pasha, who has been charged by the Khedive with the formation. of the new Ministry, has declared . himself the supporter of-the policy of the British Government. Nubar Pasha has partially succeeded in forming a Cabinet. No Europeans are included amongst those who have already accepted office under his leadership.

Mr Clifford-Lloyd, who for some time has acted as Advice-Minister of the Interior, has been appointed Undersecretary for Horae Affairs in the new Egyptian Ministry.
An Evacuation Commission.
A Commission, of which Sir Evelyn Wood is president, has been appointed to devise the best means for the evacuation of Soudan by the Egyptian troops.
A Serious Explosion. ; Hon<3 Kong, Jan. 9.
Intelligence is to hand from Tonquin that an explosion has occurred at the French position at Hanoi, Tonquin, resulting in the destruction of two batteries and the loss of a considerable quantity of material. ? Russian Arrests. St Petersburg, Jan. 9. Five men have been arrested here charged with being implicated in the assassination of Colonel Sudeiken of the Russian Gendarmerie on the 30th ultimo.
