THE TRIUMPH FLOATED.
[by telegraph.] , Auckland, To-day.
The steamer Triumph has been successfully floated this morning, and is now about ‘a mile from Tiritiri, steaming towards Auckland. 12.30 pm. . The Triumph has passed to leewarfl Of Tiritiri some two or three qples. The steamer Waitaki has just started to herassistanoe, and the Rotomahana follows at two o’clock. The white flag is hoisted at tho signal station to intimate that the Triumph is now oqt of sight. It is thought that an adverse sea and tide are [too strong for her, It is not known whether she is making more water. < Later.
The triumph seems to have 'anchored three miles.from Tiritiri. There is a strong adverse breeze and heavy sea.' No details of the floating heve yet reached town. All that had been done prior to floating was to move the heavy cargo and ooaj that was holding her down, stop all thq i leaks in sections aft of the fore compartment, andpuypp her out. The pumps . were fixed, being equal to 500 tons per hour.’ The foreh'old being full of water will make navigation difficult, especially with the sea now running.
