THE ANNEXATION CONFERENCE.
[reliter's TELEGRAMS. —COPYRIOHr.] Sydney, Yesterday. The consideration of the Federal Council Bill was concluded this morning, and the draft was adopted by the Convention, The Hon. R. B. Lesfe, member of the Legislative Council of Fiji, had an interview with Major Atkinson for the purpose of representing to him the desire of the Europeans in Fiji for incorporation of the islands with the colony of New Zealand. Major Atkinson leaves for New Zealand by the Hauroto on the 18th inst., Mr Whitaker by the Wairarapa on the 20th. At this afternoon’s sitting of the Convention, Mr Whitaker gave notice of a motion that steps should be taken to prevent the landing of criminals in the Colonies, The motion of Mr Dibbs, Colonial Treasurer of New South Wales, requiring the various Governments to be pledged to submit to their several Legislatures various resolutions that may be come to by the Convention, was agreed to ; and that of Mr Giblin, Premier of Tasmania, for the appointment of the Premiers of Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and New Zealand, as a Committee to carry out the objects of and summon the Conference when necessary, was adopted.
