THE MOUNT SOMERS RAILWAY.

The following correspondence has been placed at our disposal:— Ashburton, 4th Dec. 1883. Dear Sir, —Will you kindly look at the passage marked in the Ashbutton Mail sent herein, and say if you are correctly reported as informing Mr Ivess “ That you had left the arrangements of your visit yesterday in my hands.” I certainly did not understand anything of the sort. Apologising for troubling you upon such a question.—l am, dear sir, yours truly, Edward G. Wright. The Hon. E. Mitchelson, Dunedin. To E. G. Wright, Esq., M.H.R., Winslow. All that I told Mr Ivess was that I had arranged with you on Saturday to visit the Mount Somers Railway on the Monday following, and I do not consider Mr Ivess was justified in constructing the paragraph as he has done. I will arrive at Ashburton by the first train from Oamaru on Saturday week. —E. Mitchelson. To E G. Wright, Esq. M.H.R., Winslow. The Minister intends to be at Ashburton on Saturday, 15th inst, an hour or two before the northern express, by which he will proceed to Christchurch aftar receiving the deputation. I will advise you more precisely about the time further on. Will you take the necessary steps to inform all concerned. — J. P. Maxwell.
