The Queensland Parliament was opened yesterday by his Excellency Sir Anthony Musgrave. In the course of his speech bis Excellency referred to New Guinea and the Pacific Islands, saying that he believed a firm and united expression of opinion on the part of the colonies, would lead to the annexation of those islands. Reference was made to the satisfactory condition of the colonial finances and a number of Bills of local importance was promised. In the Legislative Council today the Address in Reply was adopted. In the Assembly this evening the Hon W. Griffiths gave notice that he would on Tuesday next propose a direct vote of want of confidence in the present Government. Sir Thomas Mcllwraith, the Premier, recognising the weakness of his patty in the new Parliament has tendered the resignations of himself and colleagues. These have been accepted by the Governor, and his Excelleny has sent for Mr Griffith to form a new Ministry. The Weather. Melbourne, To day. Heavy rain has fallen without intermission during the night. Afloat. Pumping operations on the Rodondo have been successful, and she is now afloat.
