The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is Li 3,000,000, being an increase of L 300,000. The Bank rate of discount is unchanged at 3 per cent, and the market rate at Consols remain at New Zealand securities are quoted as follows:—Five per cent. 10*40 Loan, Loan, 107 ; Four and a half per cent. 1879-1904 Loan, cent. Inscribed Stock, 102, Adelaide wheat, ex store, 455; New Zealand do, 38s 6d to 43s 6d ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 32s ; Australian tallow —best beef, 40s; best mutton, 41s 6d; best Scotch pig iron No. 1, f.o.b. in Clyde, has advanced to 48s per ton, and galvanised iron, 26 guage, packed in cases, f.o.b. in London, to LlB 10s.

The Mails. The homeward mails via Naples, from Melbourne, Sept. sth, per Orient steamship Potosi, were delivered here to-day. No Dividend. The Oriental Bank Corporation have declared no for the past halfyear, but carries forward L. 30,000 to the reserve funds. Dynamitards. London, Oct. 19. Three men named Agricus (sic), Bracken and Holmes have been ararrested at Halifax with dynamite in their possession. A supposed infernal machine, containing clockwork, was' also found upon the prisoners, who are. suspected of being Fenian emissaries. Outbreak of Cholera. AIiKIANDKIA, Opt. 18. A further outbreak of cholera has occurred near this city. Great precautions are being taken to prevent the spread of the disease. The Earthquake. ■ Constantinople, Oct. 18. ...

Official estimates to hand trom the province of Anatolia, Asia Minor, give the number of lives lost at 200. The distress among the inhabitants is very great.

[Received Oct. 23, 1 p.m.] An Operation. London, Oct. 19. Dr Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, is suffering from fistula, and an operation for its removal is to be performed to-morrow.
