longs. Mr Aitkenhead’s Magician, Bst 121 b (Endings) 1 Mr McMahon’s Henura, Bst ,111 b (O’Connor) 2 Mr-Waill’s Karearea, 9st (J. Cotton) 3 The lot were let go to a very uneven start. Barney getting all the worst of it. Karearea got away with the lead, followed closely by Henura, Matipo, and Magician. When coming into the straight the latter came through his horses in fine style and won easily, Henura second, Karearea third, the rest never in the race. There were 300 in the tototalisator, 112 .on the the winner. A protest was entered against Magician on the ground that he had previously won an advertised race of L3O, but the Stewards disallowed the protest.
