CRIMINAL SESSIONS.

[by telegraph.] Wellington, To-day. 1 The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court opened before Judge Richmond this morning. Nine cases are on forbearing, but none of them of a serious character. The charge to the Grand Jury occupied only three or four minutes, no remarks of any importance being made. Christchurch. Christchurch, To-day. The criminal sessions of the Supreme Court opened this morning, hir Justice Johnston, in his charge, congratulated the Grand Jury on the lightness of the : calendar, which he said was one of the lightest he had known since he had pro-, sided at the Court. There were only six ■ persons charged, though some of the offences were of a serious nature. He Was ■ sorry to see the offence of forgery again on the sheet, there being no less than fire charges of this nature against one individual. ■ .-■«»* Dunedin. Dunedin, To-day. > 4 Tiie criminal sessions opened Judge Williams, in his charge,' said the Grand Jury had only a few oases to con-. sider, and none of them presented any special difficulties. With respect, to .the : case against the boys Roy, charged with firing guns at a passing train and killing a man on the engine, it did not which boy had fired the fatal shot, but ’ the circumstance that it was fired by one of them would justify a true bill being returned against betb.
