THREATENED MAORI DISTURBANCE.

[bt telegraph.] Auckland, To-day. A telegram to the Star states that the Kawhia harbor beacons were pulled down and broken by the chiefs Tu Ete Ao and Tihirahi, of the Ngatimaniopoto tribe. The property and wives of the European residents are threatened if they do not obey the mandate of the Hauhau chiefs and leave Kawhia within a few days. The Maoris have given them notice to this effect. The Ngatimanihutu openly declare their intention of opposing settlement at Kawhia, the land being theirs. Ngakau, the King’s adviser, is supposed to have a finger in the matter. The women and children of the tribe are being removed from the settlement on the west side of the harbor. Tawhiao is at lores, carefally watching the proceedings.
