STAGNANT WATER.
To the Editor.
Sir, —“ Ratepayer ” seems to think that he has cause to grumble ; perhaps he has. If he wants sympathy let him come to my den at the back of the East Belt, and I will show him something that will knock spots off his grievance. Right opposite my door, and within a few chains of the residences of Mr Zouch and Mr Reddin, is a disused clay-hole, which collects the surface drainage from a considerable area. This hole contains a fine pool of water, covered with a beautiful green slime, which only needs a little warm weather to be a certain cause of sickness to this thickly populated part of the suburbs, and to the Borough also. Complaints to.local bodies are useless. Will the press help us]—lam etc., Adams Hampstead, Sept. 21. _
