[I*KR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] No Sign of the Comet. Wellington, To-day. Captain Edwin has received telegrams from all the meteorological stations ,bn the East Coast stating that no sign of the comet was seen last night, although a look out was kept for it. The proprietor of the theatre also refused to let it to them. The Salvationists and Skeletons iq. Trquhle. Timaru, To-day. Reuben Smith, captain of the Salvationists in Timaru, was charged this morning at the R. M. Court with having caused an obstruction in the streets last night by heading a. noisy demonstrative procession, thereby inducing a crowd to collect, whereby the streets became blocked and impassable for vehicles and dangerous for horses. A fine of 10a and costs was inflicted. The defendant’s counsel gave notice of appeal to the Supreme Coilrt, A charge of obstruction against one Maizengart and five other members of the “ : progressive ” or “ Skeleton ” army was similarly disposed of on the applicationof counsel, the offence having’ been committed simultaneously with the former one, and the evidence in both being the same.
