Pretender is a dark bay with black points, rising nine years old, with good bone and substance ; stands 16J hands high, splendid temper, good action, and a quiet worker. Pretender is by Prince Oharlie (imported from Scotland by Mr W. Boag) out of Maggie by King Fergus (imported from Scotland by Mr David limes). Maggie’s dam imported from Tasmania. Pretender gained second prize at the Northern Show as a two-year-old in 1878. Be also took second prize in 1877. Terms—£9 for the season, guarantee £3, payable oi the Ist January, 1884, and 6s groomage. Groomage fee payable on first service. Will be in Ashburton every Saturday.
