[per press association.] Pound Drowned. Auckland, To-day. The body of George Marley, formerly a draper, was found floating in the Harbor to-day. It has the appearance of having been several days in the water. A Cordial Interview. Wanganui, To-day. Mr Bryce, the Native Minister, who arrived in town on Wednesday last had an interview with Major Kemp, the Maori chief at Upokonagaro yesterday. It was a most cordial meeting, as if no strained relations had ever existed between Kemp and the Government, After a short interview they parted on the best terms. A good number of natives were present with several Europeans.

A Terrible Threat! Masterton, To-day. An indignation meeting of the Masterton Volunteers was held last evening to protest against the conduct of Major Bunny on the occasion of the visit of the Governor to Masterton. About forty were present and Captain Donald presided. After several condemnatory speeches had been made, the following resolution was carried unanimously: “ That the Masterton Volunteers after the treatment received from Major Bunny on Thursday last tender their resignation in a body.” A petition drawn up to the Minister of Defence, stating the reason, was signed by all present. The New Steamer. Dunedin, To-day. The Union Company have been advised of the sailing of the Takapuna from the Cape yesterday.
