Death of The Queen of Madagascar London, August 27The latest intelligence from Madagascar reports that Queen Ranovalo* manjaka is dead, but the statement requires confirmation. The French in Tonquin. Paris, August 27. The Temps , in an issue to-day, publishes a telegram from a correspondent in Tonquin, announcing that the King of Anam submitted to the French force, and offered the services of his troops in the event of further military operations in Tonquin being necessary. The King also accepted the terms offered by the French Commission which proceeded to Hue to negotiate for the cessation of hostilities, and agreed to pay the war indemnity demanded. The French troops in the meanwhile are holding the forts which they recently captured, and which command the city, as security for payment. The provisions of the compact arrived at also recognise the French claim to a protectorate over the country, and confirm the same. Riots in FranceMuch ill-feeling has of late been manifested between the natives of BesanSon, a town in the east'of.the country, and the Italian workmen-resi-dent there, and the discord culminated to-day in a riot, in which a largo number of workmen took part. Thd disturbance, however, was suppressed by the police.
