Mr Conolly’s Civil List Amendment Bill provides that in future L 9,200 ’shall be appropriated for the salaries of the judges of all the Supreme Courts, instead of to be appropriated as follows : Annual salary ot Chief Justice, L 2,000; annual salaries of four puisne judges, Ll,Boo each. The Dargaville Committee met again to-day, when Mr Dargaville put in specific terms the nature of his fiist charge in support of his allegations of political corruption against the Government Mr Knight, the actuary, was examined in support of the charge. The Work of the Committee seems to bs only just commencing. Angelique Therasse, whose case has been prominently before Parliament lately, received a free .pardon yesterday, as it was ascertained she had bought the article of which she had been accused of stealing in Wellington at Christchurch. The Impounding Bill will not be proceeded with further this session.
It ia expected that the Ministerial statement as to the progress of business will be made either to-day or ia the course of a day or two. The Post considers that the direct steam service ought to have been made a Ministerial question.
