Mr Reynolds intends moving that the Estimates of expenditure for the Council are excessive, and should be reduced by at least LSOO.
Mr Pyke voted with the Government yesterday in favor of keeping the seat of the Government at Wellington. It is expected that if a Royal Commission is appointed to enquire into dummyism, Mr Pyke will be selected as one of the members. Mr Reynolds is to move for the appointment of a select Committee to enquire into the alleged case of forgery and uttering by B. ff Ward. It is considered that the Government will be able to bring the session to a close by the end of the month. The Dargavilla Committee yesterday lapsed for want of a probably owing to the late sitting of the previous night. It will sit again on Monday. Ministerial members have got their backs up at the assistance which is being given by the Tieasurer to Mr M. W, Green in regard to the Otago Harbor Bills, and deputationised the Minister last night on the subject. Major Atkinson promised to reconsider the matter. , Mr Fish is delighted with this turn of affairs.
