Stewart and Dickson (manager of the Westport Coal Company), in which Ll.OOO'damages was claimed, : commenced to-day. Mr Smith, for the petitioner,, addressed the Court at some length. The adultery ,was admitted, and the Only question for the jurtr’ wasto assess the damages. Plaintiffs counsel expressed a hope that exemplary damages Would be given, and if the judge made an order on the subject the petitioner would hand over the amount,to the Benevolent Institution, as personally he refused to receive one farthing. ?
