Among the new notices of questions and motions tabled yesterday are the following :—Mr Hutchison : To ask the Government whether they will, in order to prevent pressure being brought to boar upon the members of the House, bring in a Bill this or next session, to disfranchise the whole of the civil servants, railway, and all other Government employees throughout the colony ; if not, will they felicitate a private member doing so. Mr Holmes : To ask the Minister of Justice if he has been officially informed that an enquiry into the management for several years past of the Lyttelton Gaol is desirable, and if he intends to appoint a commission to make each, inquiry. Sir G. Grey : To ask the .Government if they will cause an enquiry to be made as to whether Mr Charieton is' entitled to any compensation for the purchase of his land at Kawhia by the Government and public auction. Major Harris : To ask the Minister for Defence if the Government have promoted or rewarded, or intend to promote or reward, the members of the police force instrumental in bringing the murderer of the. late Miss Dobie to justice, as was done in the case of the members of the Armed Constabulary force.
