[bboter’s TELEGRAMS—copyright.] The Murder of Carey. Lonbon, August 1. Great rejoicings took place in Dublin on the receipt ot the news of James Carey’s death, and bonfires were lighted i-at various places last night. Capetown, July 31. Some further details have been obtained regarding the murder of James Carey at Port Elizabeth. It is now ■ known that he was shot by O’Donnell in the presence of his family. It is, however, uncertain whether he was ' tracked from Ireland. The Earthquake. IS aples, July 31. The latest accounts from Ischia report that fully S,ooo persons lost their lives at Cassamiciola and in the neighborhood. Efforts are being made to extricate the bodies of those who perished from the ruins and inter them, but the air is now poisoned with pestilential effluvia, and all that can now be done is to cover the bodies with quicklime and allaw them to remain. Vesuvius in Eruption. Vesuvius, which has shown signs of activity since the late earthquake at Ischia, is now in eruption.
