Intelligence has been received hpre from Port Elizabeth that the Phceaix Park informer, James Carey, was shot dead yesterday on board the steamer Melrose, by a man named O’Donnell, who had been a fellow passenger with him from London. The attack was 4 very sudden one, and Carey died lOv stantly of the wound received.
