[per press association.] Arrival of the Catalonia. Wellington, To-day. The New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer Catalonia (Capt Talbot) arrived from London at 8.3 J this morning. She left London on Juno 3rd. The passage, (including stoppages, occupied fifty - seven days, the length being accounted for by her running on. a short supply of coals. The passage was uneventful. Two deaths occurred : —William Jenkins, aged 45; and Edward Brown, aged 24. The cause was consumption. The latter died yesterday morning and was buried at sea. Both men were steerage passengers, and bound to Wellington. Missing. Nelson, To-day. It is feared that Mr Morris Bucbholz > third son of Mr S. Buchholz, an old resident of this district, has beeii drowned in the Takaka river. He was acting aa traveller for Mr Moss Davis, and on Thursday afternoon left Collingwood to ride to Takaka. On Saturday it was learnt in Collingwood ’that he had net arrived. A search was made yesterday,and the horse he rode was found with one stirrup leather gone and the saddle turned round under the horse’s belly. The body has not yet been found.
