For malting barley the demand has slackened, and the market is weak. To-day’s quotations are 5s to 6s. jNew Zealand oats are quieter but steady at 2s pd to 3s for feeding, and 3s id to 3s 2d for milling qualities.

Adelaide, To-day. _ The Colonial Treasurer made his Financial Statement in the House of Assembly last night. He showed that the revenue during the last iinancial year was Lz,090,000, and the expenditure Lz,230,000. He estimates the revenue for the current year at Lz, 170,000, and the expenditure at Lz,350,000. In order to meet the deficiency it is decided to copy New Zealand, and impose a tax of id in the L on real and personal property. This is estimated to yield Li 60,000. The Treasurer showed that the railways pay 2% per cent on the capital invested, and announced that it was intended to increase the immigration vote to L. 40,000. [Keceived July 27, 2.15 p.m.] An Annexation Convention. Melbourne, To-day. Mr Service, the Premier, in replying to a memo, recently drawn up by Sir Thomas Mcllwraith and adopted by the Queensland Government, has proposed that a convention of colonial delegates, to consider the annexation question, should be held in Melbourne as; soon as possible.
