IN BE THE NEGLECTED NORTH.
To the Editor.
Sib, —I see by the report of the Council last night we are going to have something practical done to the streets in this end of the town—if Cr Harrison can manage to get his motion passed that he gave notice of last night. I suppose it is very desirable to have our streets of one uniform height, but to go and break up a good hard road for the purpose of pleasing the eye is rather toe much, when we are practically floundering over head and ears in mud. These streets were set down to be done at the first opportunity, and in common fairness they ought to be done when the opportunity has come.—l am, etc., Ratepayer. Ashburton, July 10.
