THE HOUNDS.
The meet was at Williamson’s corner at 2 o’clock this afternoon, and shortly after that hour a considerable number of intending followers and spectators took up their position. The hounds were well handled by Mr John Smith, mounted on “ Lathalleu.” When casting tor the drag the pack unfortunately hit up a hare, and the huntsmen, Messrs Denshire, Hutchison and Cargill did some sensational hunter jumping before the hounds could be checked and laid on the right line; Once off the hounds made the pace very merry over three posts and rails, when an abrupt turn of the road into a paddock of Mr Madaen’s threw many a good horseman out, Mr Hart on “Pirate” and Mr Thompson on a brown stealing a long march here. A succession of gorse hedges and a finish over two stiff post and rails completed the run, the gentlemen already mentioned and a few others being all well up. The hounds will meet at Mr Hunt’s to-morrow.
