The Paris Temps urges the Government to grant a charter to a French company for acquiring the New Hebrides Islands with concessions similar, to those granted by Great Britain to ' the Northjßorneo Trading Company. Floods in India. Bombay. July 7. News has been received here that serious floods have occurred in Surat and the Gujerat districts, causing im- * raense damage to property, arid washing away several villages. Thousands of ryots are reported to be homeless, and in a destitute condition. f
The Cholera in Egypt. Alexandria, July 7. Cholera has broken out at Menzaleh, a town on the lake of the same name to the south-east of Damietta. [Received JuD 9, 12 15 p.m.] Alexandria, July 8. Eleven deaths from cholera have already occurred at Menzaleh, where the epidemic only broke out yesterday.
