TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. At the Taranaki Jockey Club’s annual meeting the balance-sheet showed the receipts for the year to be L 1,851, and the expenses L 1,799, leaving a balance of LS2 and a sum of Ll5O still owing to the Club. Mr Hately resigned the position of hanc’iqapper, as, vented'him cajryihg >oii the duties. - His past services were highly eulogised by the members, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed, and a testimonial . of thirty guineas agreed to be presented • to him. Mr Owen McGee, of Auckland, wrote, asking that the disqualification of Rand wick might be removed, but the Club declined to accede to the request. The ambiguity of the Canterbury Jockey Club rules, which the Taranaki Club adopted, was commented on one of the rules, defining a maiden to be a horse that had never run “up to the time or entrance,” and another rule stating “up to the time of starting.!’ It was agreed to expunge section 1 of rule 11, doing away with the ruling of • weights, and that rule 14 be expunged. It was decided to hold a Spring Meeting.
