Mr Rolleston left Christchurch for Wei. lington yesterday. Jackson, charged with shooting at Mr JohO'Deans, has been identified by Mr Deans’* gardener. The arson case against King and wife was partly heard at Christchurch yesterday. and then adjourned till Friday. The annual meeting of the Church of England Temperance Society will be held to-night in the Arcade Chambers, Burnett atreetfttt 7.80 p.m. Special services are being held at the Primitive' Methodist Church every ■ evening"this week. The Rev. 0. H. Standage will, preach to-night, and Mr ' Barns to-morrow evening.
