At the Kaiapoi R. M. C mrc this morning, the cases of the Waimakariri Harbor Hoard against Charles Edward Dudley for embezzlement were heard. Evidence was given by G. H. Wearing, J. Perrin, Isaac Wilson, Carl Hausen, Thomas May, T. Parnham, and G. Hay Barclay, and the accused having reserved his defence was formally committed for trial. The case of larceny as a bailee was deferred for a fortnight. In the case of the Kaiapoi Borough Council v.. Dudley, ex-Town Clerk, for contempt of an urder made on February 19th, to produce certain missing ratebooks, Mr Whitefoord committed him to prisonifor one month, and allowed; one day to give him an opportunity of resisting the order in the Supreme Court. Ha also granted a week’s grace to allow of the matter being taken into the Court.
