THE PENINSULA ELECTION.
[by telegraph.] Dunedin, To-day.
Mr Larnach’a injuries were not jso severe as was anticipated, tie Was able to be present at the official declaration! of the poll for the Peninsula, the numbers for which were as previously announced. Bishop Moran admitted that he did not expect to bo elected, his object in coming forward being to call attention to the injustice dene to the Catholics on the education question, and to keep Mr Donnelly out. He regretted that no steps . were taken by Mr Larnach with regard to the untrue statements issued respecting his (the Bishop’s) candidature, and, in conclusion, said that as to choice of language and election epithets, Mr Larnach stood head and shoulders above other men, an d he would doubtless represent the electors to their heart’s content.
