Meeting of the Committee.

The new Committee then held its first :; meeting, there being present Messrs St > Hill, J. Orr, G. Andrews, W. Sparrow, E. Reddin, and T. Sealey. The only business to be done was the electing of a chairman, and Mr Andrews proposed Mr John Orr for the position. Mr Sparrow seconded. There being no other nomination, Mr Orr was elected. Mr St Hill said that he looked upon the election of Mr Orr as chairman aa ft vote of censure upon himself. He (the ,1 speaker) had attended fourteen meetings during the past year, while Mr Orr had only been present at four. The householders had shown their appreciation of ' his services as chairman, and under the - circumstances he begged to tender bis resignation. It was decided to leave the question of Mr St Hill’s resignation over till next meeting, and the Committee than ad- ' journed.
