1 1 [per press association.] A Dispute Settled. Napier, To-day. A long out-standing dispute between Mr Sheehan, as trustee for the late Karaitiana, and Mr Douglas McLean. son of the late Sir Donald, concerning the Ngatarawa blocks, was settled this morning. The difference between the amount off-red for the purchase of the land and that which was demanded was LI,OOO, Mr Sheehan proposed, and Mr McLean agreed, that this sum should be given to the Napier and Waipukurau Hospitals, L6OO te each, for the endowment and maintenance of a Maori ward, to be called the “ McLean-Karaitiana ward.” of Forgery. Patba, To-day.
Wm,' X)ale ? recently manager of the Patea Permanent Building Society, was charged' at the B.M. Court yesterday at the instance of the directors with forgery. The actual offence was altering the Bank pass-book to make it appear that L7l 15s had been paid in, whereas the correct amount wasLll'lSs. He was committia for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court, New Plymouth, bail being allowed, self in LSOO, and two sureties of L 250.
