London, Jan. 8, i.uon. s It has been ascertained that Mr I Gladstone’s indisposition arises from 1 overwork, and his medical adviser has ’ recommended complete rest. .Mr , Gladstone has consequently abandoned his intended political tour in Midlothian. Fatal Collision in the Mersey. A serious collision occurred to-day in the Mersey between the Inman line steamship City of Brussels and another vessel. The former sank in deep water shortly after the collision, and ten persons were drowned. The Spanish Ministry Resigned. Madrid, Jan. 6. The Spanish Ministry has resigned, a split in the Cabinet having occurred upon the question of finance.
