The Scratch Race of 15 sovs (once round), was won by Messrs Mason and Vallance’s Jack, who beat four others, and on being submitted by auction, was knocked down to Mr R. Richardson for 35 guineas. The Consolation Race was wonjby Siesta, who beat Leos by a head, Hilda being two lengths behind the second horse, and Whitbach last.
WAITARA RACES. [by telegraph. ] New Plymouth, To-day. The Wai ara J.O. annual races drew a large attendance. Appended are the results ; • Handicap Hurdles—Lady Gray, 1 ; Frying Scud, 2 ; Bedouin, 3. Maiden Plate— Normanby, 3 ; Satoria, 2 Sapling Stakes —Sir Julius, 1 ; Master Walton, 2 ; Ino, 3. Waiara J.C. Handicap, of 125 sovs— Lord of the Hills, Sat, 1; St. Clair, 9st, 2; Redeemer, bst 61b, 3 Satoria was scratched. Redeemer ran well, but Lord of the Hills and St. Clair passed him in the straight. The jockey of the litter was seen to pull his horse, and Lord of the Hills was allowed to win. Time — Srnins 55isec. The totalisator had 273 investors, 82 being on the winner. The jockey, Tucker, has been disqualified for ever, and the owner fined LlO for neglecting to declare to win with Lord of the Hills. Railway Plate—St. Clair, 1; Normanby, 2. AUCKLAND RACES. These races were favored with magnificent weather, and there was about 6,000 people on the ground. The following are the results :

Mr Walters’ Piscatorious, 9st 21b (French), I ; Mr Bates’s Minerva, Bat 111 b (Wattie), 2. Virginia Water also ran. Aucklsnd Racing Club Handicap, a sweepstakes o' 10 sovs each, with 300 sovs added ; second horse to receive 50 sovs ; third, 27 sovs out of the stakes. Nursery Handicap of 100 sovs ; six’ furlongs.—Mr Smith’s Rubina, Sat 101 b, l;i Mr George’s Nelson, Bst 91b, 2; Mr Adams’s Mitrailleuse, Sat, 3. There were no other starters. Rubina led at the start, Nelson being last. Nelson subsequently obtained second position, Rubin winning by a length. Time—lmin 16sec. The totalisator showed a dividend of LI 118.
Auckland Plate, of 200 sovs ; 2 miles —Welcome Jack, 7st 111 b, 1; Minerva 7st 81b, 2 ; Maori, 9st 51b, 3. Kalo, 7s lllb also ran. 20 to 1 on Jack was offered, but no takers. Jack led from start to finish, winning as h§ liked, Minerva a length behind. Time—3min 47sec. ’ Steeplechase.—Canard, list 21b, 1; Clarence, 12at 101 b, 2 ; Meant, lOat 71b,
3. Tricotrin, New. Year, Chandler, St. Swithin, and Misfortune also ran. New Year had the race in hand, but fell at the second to last hurdle. Mr Goodman has withdrawn his complaint re foul riding on Boxing Day.
