From the fact that thirty engineers have applied for plans and descriptions of the Napier Harbor, it is thought that a good many designs for the improvement'works will be sent in. Nelson, To-day. _ . ■ Mr Hursthouse, M.H.R., addressed hits constituents at Upper Motueka last night, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. On the preceding night He spoke at Motueka, and was paid a similar compliment. Carriage of Coal. Greymouth, To-day, From private advices it is learned' that tenders have been called for-at Melbourne to know at what rate 10,000 tons. Greymouth coal can be conveyed from here and delivered in Melbourne. RescindedChristchurch, To-day.-The Lyttelton Regatta Committee have rescinded the rule compelling boats entered for the Champion Four-oared Race to carry coxswains. Extremely Hot. The weather to-day is extremely hot. A Popular Mayor. At the Council Chambers at noon today the Mayor, Mr J. G. Ruddenklau, was presented with a magnificent testimonial of silver plate, in recognition of the manner in which he had fulfilled the duties of his office during the International Exhibition year. He was also presented with a gold locket for the Mayoress (Mrs Ruddenklau). Both testimonials were the result of public subscriptions. •' ■ All Unopposed. Mr J, G. Ruddenklau was re-elecred Mayor of Christchurch to-day unopposed*; Mr John Joyce (for Sydenham) and the Hon. J. T. Peacock (for St. Albans) were also re-elected unopposed.
