The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand report that malting barley is nominal at 4s to 4s 6d, and that the market is sluggish. Shipping wheat is quiet but steady at 53 4d to 5s sd. New Zealand feed oats are’dull, and easier at 54s id to 4s 3d. The heavy rains that are' falling have reduced the value of seeding graink and crops. In the early districts cut crops are suffering from excessive wet, while rain is benefitting the late districts. From Plymouth. '’"he Marine Board of Inquiry which, on the 14th inst., found that the captain of the immigrant ship Northampton was to blame for the grounding ol the vessel on a reef at Point Harking, but deferred dealing with his certificate for a week, gave their decision yesterday, and directed that the captain’s certificate be suspended for nine months. penter had committed a grave error of judgment in failing to take proper precautions for the safety of the vessel. Enthusiastic Reception. The Australian cricketers were accorded a banquet to-night, in honor of their return from England. A large number of citizens were present, and much enthusiasm prevailed. Rain. Adelaide, Yesterday. A copious rainfall is now being experienced in this colony, and especially in the northern district. In Good Condition. The cargo of frozen meat, which arrived by the Cuzco on Saturday, hasbeen found to be in good condition. ' The Archbishop of Canterbury. Dr Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury, who has been in failing health for some time past, has suffered a relapse, and his cdhdition is now serious. A Friendly Visit. A semi-official statement from Berlin announces that M. ; Giero,. Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, is about to visit Prince Bismarck and Emperor William. The visit is stated to bd foe the purpose of cementing the friendship of the Empires, and has no special objects. - .
