[per press association.] Put Back. Auckland, To-day. The barque A. T. Stallbuecht, which left Auckland for Russell en route for America on the 21st June, put back into the harbour at two this morning. She encountered rough weather, and was much strained and leaky. She will be repaired before she proceeds on her voyage. Alleged Robbery. Wellington, To-day,

A young man named Hugh Clark was arrested on a charge of having stolen jewellery to the extent of LIG from the house he was lodging in at Palmerston North. A Bridge Swept Away. A temporary bridge over the Rangitikei river whs washed away last night, though the traffic wasti have been resinned on Monday. The Weather. Heavy rains have been falling for two or three days. It is clearing up now. The Wreck of the Australiud. A telegram from New Plymouth states that the barque Austarlind is a total wreck. She has not broken up, and everything aloft is standing. Yesterday she drove further ashore, and carried away the end of the harbor works jetty. Her cable and anchors have gone, and there is seven feet of water in her hold, and the 600 casks of cement on board are damaged.

Gold Items. Nelson, To day. Mr Bayfield, manager of Johnston’s United Company at Coliingwood, has received a report from Johnston, Matthey, and Co., as?ayers to the Bank of England and the London Mint, giving an analysis of the samples of galena, blend, and pyrites from the mine at Coliingwood. The galena gave G2 per cent, of lead, i with 14 per cent, of Silver; the pyrites gives a highly payable yield of gold, 15 ounces of silver, and 3 ounces of copper’per ton of ore, which is worth, in London, from Ll sto LlB per ton. A vein of pyrites from two to three feet thick exists on the Company’s property, and a tunnel of 400 feet is to be cut. The gold bearing reef is supposed to be the same as in the Hope, claim, which is nearly finished. This tunnel is to be driven 500 feet in all. The “Cat.” Lyttelton, To-day. John Young and George Hall, sentenced at the last Supremo Court sitting for indecent assaults, were flogged in the Lyttelton Gaol this morning. Poor Hippolyte! Christchurch, To-day. It is stated that the electors of Stanmore purpose burning Mr Pflliet in effigy. Juvenile Delinquents. Eight young children were arrested yesterday for petty larceny. Shooting Accident. A man named Garrard, a gunsmith of Victoria street, was shooting rabbits in the VVaimakariri river bed yesterday, when a grain of shot from a gun of one of the party glanced off a rock and struck Garrard in the eye, and completely destroyed the sight. The eye' was subsequently removed. An Informer Committed for Trial. Dunedin, To-day. i At the City Court William York, who turned informer against Williamson and Ahern, for recent burglaries, was committed for trial on three charges.
