[FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] Another Shock. Wanganui, To-day. A very sharp shock of earthquake, lasting about five seconds, and followed by a succession of smaller ones, was felt here at three minutes to 11 last night. The direction was east to west. A Respectable Sum. Wellington, To-day. The subscription raised here to augment the Mansion House fund to relieve the persecuted Jews of Russia now amounts to over L 455. This is in addition to upwards of L 450 collected here for the same object last year. The Earthquake. Patea, To-day. A smart shock of earthquaV e was felt here at midnight. The Dunedin Benevolent Asylum. Dunedin, To-day. The Royal Commissioners’ report into the management of the Benevolent Asylum disproves nearly all the charges made, and the Commissioners conclude by expressing their high sense of the I present management and the excellence of the arrangements.
