[per keutek’s agency,] A Commotion. Albany, Yesterday. The P. and O. steamship Ravenna, with the inward mails via Suez and Brindisi, dated London, June i6ih, arrived in King George’s Sound this morning, London advices pi that date
to hand by the mail state that the consignment of mutton, ex ship Dunedin, from New Zealand, caused considerable excitement in the Home markets. The quality of the meat was excellent, prime parts of carcases being sold by retail butchers at tod per pound. When the mail left an angry controversy was proceeding in metropolitan journals between landed proprietors whose interests are endangered, and butchers, with regard to the price of meat and the facility which the rapid development of the frozen provision trade affords to persons of limited income to obtain colonial meat of good quality at reasonable prices.
