Tenders have been called for the completion of the railway reclamation, and station buildings are to be commenced immediately if sufficient space is available. Criminal. At the Supreme Court to day true bills were found against John Edwards, housebreaking, and Joseph Fail for stealing from a dwelling ; Hetraki was found guilty of breaking and entering a store at VV’hangarei and of littering a forged cheque. It appeared prisoner found the cheque and uttered it, not knowing it was forged. Fred. Fairburn, charged with being illegally on premises, and against whom “ no bill” was found, was discharged. James Edwards, for breaking and entering the house of David Archibald, at the Whau, gut three years’ imprisonment. True bills were found against Pakara and Epiha, shooting with intent; Emanuel Rodersique, sodomy ; and Harry Howard Lewis, forging and uttering. No bills were found in the cases of David Johnston, horse-stealing ; and Henry Lewis, forging an endorsement. From the Chatham Islands. Lyttelton, To-day. The Omaha, brigantine, arrived from the Chatham Islands this morning. She brings a native prisoner Tapene Arawhiti, committed for trial on a charge of attempted rape on a native girl, eleven years old. The late Fatal Fire in Dunedin. Dunedin, To-day. The Kitchener’s baby died this morning.
